Yesterday we held our first morning tea or cuppa catch-up with members using Zoom. It was a great success, with over 15 of us joining in at stages during the one-hour session. It was lovely to see all the stitching and knitting from those who came and we enjoyed the company of our President and painting group members as well. I really enjoyed chatting with Ingrid who joined us from Auckland. She was knitting a red sweater with a lovely cabled panel at the front though the wool was kind of crinkly, and made it hard to tell which stitch type she was up to. It has a special name of course but spot the novice knitter who can't recall that right now. Margaret Robinson sported a lovely quilt that she has named her second isolation UFO (unfinished project!) quilt. Karen Simcox showed a lovely stripey knitted sock and once many had left Lindsay Mc Wha showed us a beautiful applique quilt that she was practicing free motion stitching on. Beverley Jackson had a beautiful embroidery and Elisabeth Bargh was joining blocks in her colourful quilt - they thankfully did not have to be isolated!
Anyone is welcome every Wednesday from 10.30 to 11am and it is unimportant which group you belong to. You don't have to have work to show or work to do, but are welcome to join us to keep our community and connections active and engaged. I certainly felt much better afterwards. I know the photo below has nothing at all to do with cuppas, stitching, knitting or chatting but it always cheers me up to see a little blue penguin.
