About Cherie Gurney: 

Cherie is a textile artist who has been working with fabric throughout her career and developed this class as an accessible and affordable way for people to create a tactile memory of their loved one.

Needs list: 

• Collection of clothes
• 3m of lightweight iron on Vilene
• quilters muslin or lightweight cotton fabric for stabilising fabrics (if the fabrics you’re using are see-through, consider using an appropriate colour
• sewing machine in good working order
• quilting ruler suitable for cutting with a rotary cutter (3 ½ or 6 ½ inch is good)
• self-healing mat (or use one from Karori Arts & Crafts)
• rotary cutter
• fabric marking pen or chalk pencil
• scissors and snips (small scissors for cutting threads)
• unpick
• pins
• sticky notes or small notes
• Optional ¼ foot and open-toe foot
